Brynnley's Ice Cream Shoppe!

So, this post is a little past due, but I have been waiting for all my pictures. Once I got those back I was waiting for some time. :) I can finally share them all with you however. It is hard to believe that our little bug is 1 year old! Everyone says it, but time really does go by so quickly! She has been such a joy to our family. I have always wanted to throw a "big party" and her birthday seemed like the perfect excuse. So MONTHS in advance I started coming up with the theme, color scheme, and all that goes along with it. I spent countless hours trying to figure out all the details, but it was so much fun! The day of the party was quite stressful to say the least! I never could have made it without my mom and my great friend Amy- thank you both so much!! I learned a lot from this party and someday will be ready to throw another one. :)

So, without further ado, here's all the fabulous (if I do say so myself) details!

This outfit was my first buy for her birthday. I just couldn't resist!

She's all about the goofy grins!

You can see some of the popped balloons on the ground in this picture. Lets just say that the balloons around the yard didn't last too long. :)

The table set up with the table runners that were my first sewing project!

I had asked each family member what their favorite ice cream topping was. I thought it was a fun way to involve even the family that wasn't there and would be a fun little thing to look back on.

Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of these desserts being finished. They were very easy to make and they look just like real ice cream cones! They are actually cake balls inside covered with candy coating. I got the idea from Bakerella. You can also see the brownie trifles and the jello cups we had.

This is a Pampered Chef recipe and is one of my favorites! They are very easy to make and for the party I colored the filling pink to go with the colors!

These are cake balls. Easy to make, but oh so time consuming! I don't even want to try and remember how many cakes I baked in two days, but I think it was something like 4, plus 2 batches of brownies for the trifles. Yikes!

Instead of the traditional birthday cake I wanted to stick with the ice cream theme. So, I wanted to make a giant waffle bowl for her, but after multipled failed attempts trying to make my own waffle bowl without the right waffle iron I went and bought one at our local ice cream shoppe. Then I brushed chocolate on and coated with sprinkles.

I also didn't know how well Brynnley would like the cold ice cream so instead of actually ice cream scoops I made giant cake balls covered in frosting to look like ice cream! Put some whip cream on top and there you go!

There ya go Brynn-dig in!

Happy Birthday Brynnley!

A few days after her birthday I wrote down some things in my journal that I want to remember about her. I also want them on my blog so if you'd like to learn my favorite things about Brynn go ahead and keep reading!

"Our little bug just turned one a few days ago...It's hard to believe that an entire year has gone by. She has started walking and is really getting the hang of it now. Some of my favorite things about her: Her smile. She always has one and her little nose scrunches up. Its so cute. :) Her eyes sparkle in the sun and become the most beautiful blue! She loves playing with Maddi. It is so cute to watch them together. She is also our little fish! She LOVES the water! She will lay on her back and just kick her little legs as fast as she can. She also puts her face in the water- so different from Maddi. She is quite active, curious, and smart. She's always getting into cupboards and drawers, tearing boxes open, climbing, and even when I try to hide stuff she immediately finds it. She's just becoming vocal, but still much quieter than Maddi. She also is cuddly, and I love it! When she wakes up, she just lays her head on my shoulder until I move her. She loves to have her cheek pressed to mine and we'll just walk around the house that way. When you make her bottle she'll go over to her Boppy and lay down- all ready to drink it. :) I'm sure I could think of more, but that sums up our little bug pretty well."

That will go down in history as one of the best "happy days" ever. I'm really glad I got to be a part of it. It's hard to be so far away, so I love it when we get to be there for special days. I can't wait to spend a whole week with the girls soon.
