Thanksgiving in California

This year for Christmas we headed to California! Ryan has a sister that lives near L.A. so all of his family was meeting up there for the holiday. We were driving, have a 4 month old baby, and were going to be gone for a week so I started planning way in advance. Packing stresses me out, seriously! Just ask Ryan how many times I say "I hope we didn't forget anything" as we drive out of town. I can finally relax once we're too far to turn back around. (At that point its too late so I quit worrying since I can't change it) Anyways...I had the time schedule all planned out for the day of departure. Feeding and pumping were on schedule so we wouldn't have to worry about them until later on in the trip. Overnight bags were carefully packed so we didn't have to pull out all the luggage when we stopped. Everything was ready...and then the storm hit. I've lived in Rexburg long enough to be used to the snow and the wind, but I haven't ever seen anything like this. When they put out a blizzard warning I knew it was going to be bad. Luckily Ryan was able to get off work a few hours earlier so we would have more hours of daylight for the drive. So, I upped my departure schedule and all was good...until we found out they were going to stop plowing and possibly close the roads! So, what would any responsible person do??? Quickly get everything into the car and leave before you could be stopped! Wait, what?!? I wasn't sure why we were trying to beat them from closing the roads, but we REALLY wanted to make it to California to see his family and of course we had a fun weekend planned to this place called Disneyland. :) Well, we left, and 7 hours later finally made it to Provo! We drove through that darn blizzard the entire way! There were seriously some very scary points where we were caught in a whiteout. So not fun. We did make it safe and sound though. If you are wondering what your car looks like after a journey like that, here ya go.
Once all the family had made it through the bad weather and roads we had a blast! Thanksgiving day consisted of eating out and going to the beach for some good ol family pictures. For the size of crowd we have we actually got some pretty nice shots.
