Race for the Cure

So, my mom has been wanting to do a race with us girls for quite a while.  She's one of those crazy people that runs like 5 miles every day. (But, secretly I'm jealous)  I, however, am not a runner.  I actually enjoy running- the quiet solitude, thoughts to yourself part.  But, I have bad knees...well actually flat feet which makes my knees hurt.  Funny thing is, I got them from my mom so who am I kidding?  I could run if I wanted to go through the pain.  My mom assures me that it does, eventually, go away.
Running seems to be the cool thing to do these days though so I figured I would give it a shot.  I started "training" so I wouldn't die running my first 5K.  My sisters kept assuring me that I would  be fine, but I don't think they realized how quickly I thought I was going to die when I ran. :)  This was also coming from a sister that was a runner in high school and my baby sister that is still very active.  My saving grace was Jacque.  Her and I could bring up the rear together.  That was the plan, until she bailed on me.  So, I was okay with just doing what I could.  I had no expectations of myself other than to finish without passing out.  You laugh, but that is a serious concern for me.  I have low blood pressure and my family will attest to my ability of passing out.
The day of the race came and I was ready.  My sweet baby sister, Lindy, actually ran with me the whole way.  And, guess what?!?  I only had to walk twice!  Twice!  Way better than my expectations.  The first time was due to feeling a little light headed :)  and the second was because of my knee.  But, they were only for about a minute each.  Other than that I ran the whole way baby!  This was a huge thing for me!  I was quite proud of myself.  And whats even better is that I didn't even feel like I wanted to puke or pass out afterwards!  Thanks mom for getting us all to do this!
Carrisa, my mom, me, Lindy
Lindy and I at the finish line!  Okay, this was staged.  They missed us so we ran back by for the pic, but it was only about 2 minutes after the real finish line crossing, so it counts.
