7 Years

7 years.  Thats how long we have been married.  Its really quite crazy to think about.  7 is getting closer to 10 and that seems impossible.  How has the time gone by so quickly?  But, I guess with school, children, and life it just tends to happen.  We've done a lot in our 7 years and we have big plans for the future ones.  :)  This year for our anniversary Ryan had asked me if I would want to go to a Sugarland concert.  Sounded fun; I've only been to one concert in my life (Enrique Iglesias with Alexis Langworthy my Freshman year of college) and Ryan has never been!  However, no babysitter was to be found.  All of our local family was going to be out of town.  So, we decided we would keep it simple and figured we'd go to the temple and dinner.  I also tried sending Ryan to a paintball scenario game the weekend after, but since we had a new class of students starting it just wasn't possible for him to leave.  It seemed as if all our anniversary plans were a bust this year.

Then, Friday afternoon Ryan shows up with a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers.  The card said I had until 9am the next morning to be ready to leave!  He had gotten a student to babysit and we were going!  I was so excited!  I spent the day packing, did a little shopping, and felt like a kid at Christmas.  I usually like to have things planned, but this quick spontaneous trip was just what I needed!

We took off Saturday morning and went to the new mall in Salt Lake City by Temple Square.  It was amazing!  There are so many stores there it can be a bit overwhelming.  But, the cool thing is that it has a retractable ceiling so in good weather its open and in bad weather it becomes enclosed!

One of our new favorite stores is Restoration Hardware.  We could have spent all day in there!  We fell in love with many a piece of furniture that day.  These pics are with my iPod so quality isn't good, but you get the idea.  If I  had the money this table would have been going home with us!  I love everything about it!  And Ryan was loving all the metal pieces, especially these chairs.  There were so many other things, but I'll spare you.

After our shopping trip it was off to our hotel, which just happened to be the same hotel we stayed in when we got married- Anniversary Inn.  We stayed in the Venice room.  Our bed was in a gondola!  It was very cool.  One downside, no full length mirror.  How's a girl supposed to get ready for a hot date?!?  I made do though.   I put on my new outfit, did my make-up, curled my hair, and we were ready to go!
Some good looking people right there!
Okay, so I'll admit I was trying to get some pics of my outfit, but it wasn't working out so well.  :)
Now, one thing you have to know is that the forecast had said rain for the day, however, there had been no rain.  It was a beautiful day!  But, to be safe we did buy some ponchos at WalMart just in case.  And boy am I glad we did!  We got to the concert, which was outside at an amphitheater and it was just starting to have a few drops fall.  Nothing major.  We walked across the parking lot, made it through the gates and it started to pour!  I frantically started trying to get the poncho on and in the process apparently made my own armholes.  Whoops!  But, in my defense, I was trying to save a cute outfit and hairdo that I had only enjoyed for about 20 minutes!  Ryan was very sweet and helped me get into our other poncho without poking additional holes and wore by improvised one.  He did have a good rain jacket too.  By the time we made it to our seats everything was soaked.  We could either stand the entire time or take the plunge and sit in the wet chairs, which we did.  And we sat there for an hour and a half before the preshow finally started!  We had moments of non-rain which we took advantage of to dry out our raisin fingers.

My job was to protect my purse, Ryan's wallet, our iPods, camera...yes I look awesome!

We replaced curls with ponchos, but I love this pic
A benefit to the rain-beautiful rainbows!

Our camera (which was very nice 6 years ago) just doesn't take that great of pictures so it was hard to get some of the concert.  But the first one I had to put up because of this guy's outfit!  Seriously, on older guy in brown/orange skinny capris, with a fluorescent yellow tank, and army like boots.  It was weird.
The concert was okay, not great, but still fun.  We left a little early just because it was getting so late and we were a little cold from being soaked.  I was so excited to jump into a nice hot bath when we got back to our hotel room!

The whole trip was a lot of fun.  We left the next morning back for home.  Sometimes I feel like to have a fun time it has to be elaborate, but even just an overnight getaway was awesome!  We definitely want to do another concert again, preferably out of the rain though.  :)
Happy Anniversary Babe!  I love ya!
