Maddi decided to have a Fancy Nancy party this year, which actually worked out great for me. I hadn't been feeling very great from my pregnancy and didn't want to plan a whole party. We decided there isn't much fancier than manicures and updo's for little girls.
All I really had to do was invitations and the cake. But oh the cake. The darn cake. It is always the most stressful thing for me, yet I love making them every year. Its the one time I really enjoy being a "baker" and coming up with something fun for my girls. A Fancy Nancy cake seemed like it would be the easiest one yet. Just make it fancy! No special shape, design, or picture to imitate. Because of this I guess I thought it a good idea to try my hand at fondant. The fondant alone would have been easy enough, but I wanted it to be sparkly! Thus, began the hunt for how to make my fondant sparkle! It ended with a last minute purchase on line that still wasn't quite what I was looking for. I learned a lot in the process and overall I think it was pretty good. I even filled each layer with cream cheese frosting and fresh strawberries! Tasted pretty good, but it did make it a little harder to cover with fondant. The filling kept wanting to squish out!
Oh, and I should mention another great thing. We had the party at the beauty school so I didn't even have to clean my house!

We had dress up items for the girls to put on as they arrived and did some fun little photo shoots!

The girls had fun getting their hair done and then of course we had to do some more shots with them all dressed up. I wish I had bought more of the glasses, because they were the biggest hit!
