We pulled into town after camping for a week and it was raining. By the time we made it to our house it was really coming down hard. We figured we'd set in the truck for a few minutes till it passed until we realized that it wasn't going to just pass. So, we made a run for it. From the truck to our garage we got soaked! We couldn't believe how hard it was raining. Once inside we realized we still had Zoey in the back...dang. Out we go again. :)
Once the rain stopped, we were getting ready to head out to unload when I happened to look out our back window and realized that the street was gone! It was totally flooded! So, we walked out our front door and sure enough the streets were deep with water. You couldn't see the sidewalks and the water came up into people's yards at some points.
Naturally, you want to go play in it. The water was pretty dang cold though. I was nasty from a week of camping, but what the heck! Out we went.
It didn't take long though for us to realize that it was more than just flooding in the street. We had many neighbors with window wells that filled up and broke their windows. A neighbor behind us literally had a river running through their basement. It was awesome to see everyone jump into gear and start helping out. Ryan was gone most of the evening driving around Rexburg with a group of guys helping wherever they could. It did make for an exciting story and it was awesome to see the community come together like that.
