Freaking Out

Okay, so I'm supposed to be packing to leave today, but I just read this article and now I must get my thoughts out! The proposed health care bill is seriously freaking me out. The government is telling me that I have to get their health care, and if I don't I'll be fined $1,000.00!!!!!!! What?!? Since when was that legal? If another insurance company sent me a letter saying because I CHOSE not to use their policy they have enclosed a bill of $1,000 I would just laugh. Well, apparently this government doesn't think I should have the choice. Man, is my blood boiling right now. Apparently I'm gonna have to get some emails off to some politicians before I leave town now. I feel as if we are spiraling downward so fast I can't even keep up. What is happening in our country, when did it become even remotely okay to take away the people's rights? I really feel completely helpless, but I know that one voice can make a difference. PLEASE, take a few minutes to read this and if you are concerned take another few minutes and send an email to your representatives. WE THE PEOPLE MUST BE HEARD!
(Okay, I'm starting to feel a little better)

So, I'm kinda wondering ... are they gonna fine us $1,000 and then make us get the insurance anyway? I wouldn't put it passed Obama to do that.

I'll have to read the article that you have linked, but I have heard a little different. Justin and I spent the day watching CSpan last week and there was a bunch of stuff on the health plan. We watched Obama answer questions, so granted a lot of what he said was what he wanted us to hear. However, I didn't get the impression that everybody would have to have the government health plan. Rather, they would provide insurance to people who wanted it and to serve as competition to other health insurance companies so that they wouldn't be able to drive their prices up as much. I'm no defending Obama or anything here, just trying to say don't freak out too much yet. There is a lot of unknown with this bill still and we just need to keep watching and being informed as Congress puts together the details.
