The Little Black Bead

It was a usual Sunday morning.  I had a meeting for Relief Society, got the girls ready for church and we were getting ready to head out.  I was printing out some sign-up sheets and my computer was being so slow and Maddi kept bugging me about something.  I wasn't really paying any attention to her and finally told her to just go whine to her dad.  So, she moves onto her dad who was gathering things for his lesson and likewise wasn't giving much heed to what she was trying to say.  Finally I get my papers to print and start paying attention to what she is saying.  I catch that there is something wrong with her nose.  Eventually, I realize what the problem is.  She had a bead stuck in her nose.  Really?!?  Now!  Today?
Oh boy.
So we go into the bathroom and have her blow her nose.  Nothing.  We have her blow harder.  Nothing.  I called my neighbor across the street, who is a nurse, to see if she knew any tricks.  She told us to lay her down plug the open nostril and blow in her mouth.  This kind of freaked Maddi out and she wouldn't really let us try, but the the little chance we had yielded nothing.  That bead wasn't going anywhere!  We tried tweezers, pliers, you name it.  Nothing.

So, we called the doctor.  He was on his way back in town and said he could meet us in a few hours.  So we decided we would just go to church.  As we were leaving Ryan got an idea.  So we made a quick stop to the school.  He laid her down on a facial bed, used the magnifying thing and an extension hook and out popped the bead!  Dad saved the day and the bank!  We figured we had better keep the dumb thing so Ryan turned the water on for Maddi to rinse it off and she drops it!  Down the drain it goes.  Great.  So Ryan unhooks the elbow to find the bead and he does.  Phew.  Its over.  Off to church we go.

Maddi had a good story to share that day!
